A Festive Culinary Journey

This Christmas Eve, my parents and I decided to do something special—dine at the much-talked-about Restaurant Chef Pillai at Le Méridien Kochi. It was our first visit, and honestly, we didn’t know what to expect. Little did we know, we were about to have an evening that would remain etched in our memories.

From the moment we walked in, the warm and festive ambiance caught our attention. As it was Christmas Eve, prior reservations were a must, and we were lucky to have booked in advance. The restaurant was bustling, yet the staff ensured a seamless and comfortable experience for us.

Our culinary journey began with a refreshing welcome drink, a perfect start to the evening. Shortly after, the starters arrived, and each dish was a pleasant surprise. However, the showstopper for me was their Kerala-style pani puri. Imagine the classic pani puri, but with a local twist—pickle and curd milk as the filling! It was unique, tangy, and absolutely delicious.

The main course was nothing short of a royal feast. There were two types of chicken, tender beef, flavorful mutton, and perfectly cooked fish, served alongside ghee rice, appam, and Indian breads. Every bite was a celebration of flavors, and it was clear how much thought and skill went into each dish.

The meal concluded with a delectable dessert and Kerala-style black coffee. The coffee, with its earthy and bold flavor, was the perfect ending to an extraordinary meal.
